THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES

I was listening to a sermon in church, and the preacher kept saying over and over, “Your past lied to you”. This resonated with me for a long time and made me think of ways in which many people have been trapped, insecure and held back by certain interpretations or perceptions of their past.

A lie is defined as an intentionally false statement. The truth is defined as: “That which is true in accordance with fact or reality” or “A fact or belief that is accepted as true”.

And it hit me many people have had events or statements said to them, which were accepted, or events that happened and affected them negatively. These happenings are facts but could be lies and truths because If you believe anything long enough, it will hold true.

In research, there is something called universal truth. Universal Truth is ‘widely accepted facts which do not change over period, circumstance, location’.

This, to me, is what the word of God is, what the truth that is said in his word is. It is also what we say and confess consistently over time, despite our situations and locations.

My dearest ‘husby’ aka sweetie aka best husband in the ‘world’ (and the universe) and I were discussing – more like chatting and we came to one conclusion: out of every 5 people you meet, 4 are struggling or suffering from a case of low self-esteem.

And we were right…To be more accurate, 85% of the world’s population is affected by low self-esteem according to grcounselling.com.

Many hide it under pride, ego, ‘superiority’ or even ‘humility’ complex but most, sometimes in a moment we all hear that tiny yet often persistent voice echoing: “You can’t do this”, “you’re not good enough”, “things don’t work out for people like you” … “You failed before; how can you get this right again?” … or even the’ You don’t have “her” eyes/ legs – and other unnamed ‘body parts’-, his “brains”, his looks or the size of his p**** <coughs>; I mean PROBLEMS!

No matter what you may have gone through, no matter the facts that stare you in the face, daring you and reminding you of your weaknesses and incapacity, you made it here; to this point and you are still standing.

YOU have a choice, to believe the lies those past events, current situations, unspoken doubts and insecurities, haters, critiques you and even you may have told yourself or you can choose to believe the truth you want to create based on the future you desire and want to work into reality.

There are many truths we must discover and remind ourselves daily. Here is one of them: You are far greater and more powerful than you could ever imagine, built for royalty designed in the image of the God himself. Consult HIS manual, look for what it says about you, confess it every day and unravel the wonder that is called you!

Don’t believe the lies of the past, dare to rewrite your history. Look your weaknesses in the face and challenge them to follow you on the journey to greatness. Look into mirror at all your imperfections and flaws and accept yourself; challenge yourself to keep growing but show grace and forgive yourself when you do not reach your expectations.

LIFE IS A CANVASS; YOU ARE THE ARTIST; IT’S TIME TO ERASE THE LIES AND NEGATIVES OF THE PAST AND PAINT YOUR MASTERPIECE.

Cheers to a happier, healthier, wiser and beautiful you,

Blessings!
