In 1000 days from now, where will you be? That’s not a long time, its simply 2 years, 10 months and 16 days.
If you’re 33 right now, no matter your birthday, you’ll be 35. If you’re 48 right now, no matter your
birthday, you will be 50, and if you’re 68… well, you know the math.
A friend of mine once said ‘No matter how old you think you are, this is the youngest you will ever
be’.
So, what’s holding you back?
We live in the best time to be alive; this is the era of dreams becoming reality. Kids can become
billionaires before they get to college, you can pivot in your career, ‘retire’ at any age, only to evolve and carve a new path for yourself.
A new path may be scary, but not everything is really new anymore. No matter your innovation or
vocation, there is someone whose journey may be similar or can inspire and inform your journey.
Kimani Maruge hold the Guinness World Records as the oldest person to enrol in primary
school at the age of 84. He became the head boy of the school in 2005 and addressed the UN World Summit. He died in 2009, probably fulfilled and leaving a lasting legacy.
Priscilla Sentenei continued Kimani’s legacy a few years ago by attending school at the age of 98,
rising to the top of her class, wearing a school uniform and participating in all school activities
including physical education.
Lisa Nichols wrote herself a check every two weeks for three and a half years and always referenced
it, ‘Funding My Dream’.
Three and a half years later, she went to the bank and saw that she had 62,500 dollars in her bank account and could not believe it.
It is said that 1000 hours’ worth of practice is enough to become skilled at anything. It may take
more than that in certain areas, but what matters is showing up, growing, and willingness to
scale and do great things.
By the grace of God, we will all still be here in 3 years’ time. But it’s a choice whether in three years, we will be celebrating the anniversary of our dreams or our regrets.
Even a newborn baby will be walking and speaking in 3 years, what about you?
Let’s dream, let’s rise, let’s take the necessary steps together.
Rooting and cheering for you always!
Tomi Sule Emmanuel.
