WHERE ARE YOU PARKED?

I was going to a place I visit often; it has a community library inside, and most of the time the parking is full.

So, I arrived early one morning and just simply parked outside. The security guard said to me, ‘Why are you behaving like a visitor?’ You come here all the time’. I stayed in my car for a while, so I thought he meant why I didn’t come in immediately.

It was hours later that I realised that it may have looked full from the outside, but there was free parking inside!

I began to wonder how many areas of my life I had ‘parked outside’; assuming there was no room
for me because I had tried before, and space was unavailable.

Perhaps in marriage, perhaps in finance, perhaps at church or in relationships, have you been
parking outside?

Parking ‘outside’ is making assumptions without first checking the facts.
Parking outside is quitting after the first, second or third try.
Parking outside is refusing to evolve, refusing to find other ways to do something better or improve.
Parking outside is choosing the easiest and most convenient step, refusing to stretch or be
pressured.
Parking outside is refusing to work on your relationships, being afraid of deep conversations, and
hard questions.
Parking outside is being more closed or secretive than you should be, refusing to serve or be
accountable.

I believe we are all ‘parked outside’ in one area of our lives.
Let’s all go in; it might take a few more steps, or a few more tries, but there is enough room.

Cheers!
