Gideon in the bible may not be as popular as David because he didn’t become king or slay giants.
He may not be as popular as Joshua because he didn’t knock down the wall of Jericho or lead Israel into the Promised Land.
Gideon didn’t have super strength like Samson.
Gideon is definitely not like Solomon, with wisdom and a lot of wealth.
He didn’t have a tall stature or a dramatic rise to leadership like Saul; he wasn’t a judge and a prophet like Samuel or Deborah.
Gideon was the least of his father’s house and came from the weakest clan of his tribe.
He had seemingly zero talent, zero influence, probably zero support, backing or confidence. But Gideon had his unique strengths, which are key to greatness in today’s world.
An angel met him threshing wheat in a wine press; that means, though he was disadvantaged, he had the courage and skill to maximise resources and think out of the box.
Gideon had a unique perspective. He was a solution seeker, a go-getter who knew how to be discreet.
Maybe you are secretly operating a side hustle, or you write and speak
uniquely or have a talent that is not celebrated yet.
In your little corner, there is something unique and special about you, something only you can bring into this world.
There is a reason you have had your experiences, your perspective, your
unique skill set.
Regardless of your flaws, your seeming smallness or lack of praise or result, something is amazing about you, something unique that you are doing right now.
Sourdough bread dates back as far as 3700 BCE in Switzerland. It was probably discovered by accident when early bakers left flour and water dough exposed, leaving airborne yeast and beneficial bacteria to cause fermentation.
Although it is seen as food for a more refined palate today, it was once seen as food for people experiencing poverty. It became popular among poor miners who could not afford yeast or buy commercial bread in the 1800s.
Maybe you’re like Gideon, seemingly small with a huge confidence problem, but you will break down altars, defy oppressors and use unique instruments and techniques to conquer nations.
Or maybe you’re like sourdough bread, built out of necessity with ‘substitute’ ingredients, low resources, support or even lack. But you will become premium and sought after by a unique group of people with class and taste.
Learn from sourdough; you don’t have to be popular. Your life story does not need to follow a regular pattern or timeline. But you will still arrive at your dreams; you will be sought out by those who perceive your worth or your value.
Refuse to focus too much on your present status or what you lack; allow me to be a messenger from the future with a message just for you:
‘You are amazing, wonderful, and you will do great things. Don’t stop here; what you have will serve and amaze the world”.
