SWEET ROOIBOS, BITTER TEA!

During the Christmas holidays, we sat down to have breakfast as a family.
To make it special and healthy, I wanted everyone to have tea. Yes, rooibos tea in all its natural
glory.
I decided to give it a twist and add cucumber, lemon slices and a mother’s love.
Everyone wrinkled their noses as the teapot was placed, but after it was served, almost everyone
wanted a second cup.
I made that tea again for myself some days later; it was a delicious ‘banger’.

So, some days ago, I decided to make the tea the same way on a random weekend.
To my surprise, the tea was bitter.
What did I do wrong? How is this possible?
I thought to myself that 1.2 litres of tea could not go to waste, but I decided to chug through half of
the jug and place the rest in the fridge.

Monday morning, I pour myself a cup from my thermos and head out the door. After running some
morning errands, I decide to ‘simmer down’ with a cup of chilled tea.
I was already prepared for the tangy taste of lemon, but behold, the bitter tea had become sweet!Nothing was added, just left as it was for two days to cool in the fridge, and it had turned into the
most delicious beverage of my day.
I was forced to recall the story of Marah, a place in the desert where the water was bitter. After
divine intervention, the water became sweet.
Time was all my tea needed.
And it makes me think; what area of my life simply needs time?
No additives, no extras, its perfection is complete by simply waiting.
Not waiting endlessly, but waiting with willingness, preserving original positive character and value.

Maybe you’re just like my jug of rooibos tea.
You’re doing everything you know to do, but the business hasn’t taken off, the baby has not come,
the marriage has not happened.
There is nothing wrong with you; you’re not broken or expired.
Give it time.

Wait. Hope. Pray. Release.

Nothing worthwhile ever happens when we are desperate, so birth your dreams, take whatever
steps are necessary to bring them to life and then release them to time, God and the universe to
work out the rest.

Just like my rooibos, may every good seed you’ve sown, processes and systems you have toiled to
create produce sweet returns.

Do you have a bitter turned to sweet story? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
Rooting for you always, cheers to sweet and lasting results!
